Mapping and Inventory
The Mapping and Inventory unit is responsible for monitoring the nation’s forest resources and compiling essential data to support forest management, planning, and decision-making.
The unit’s key activities include:
- Execution of timber surveys in gazetted, communal, and commercial forests
- Change detection for forest cover monitoring
- Production of vegetation maps at both national and local levels
- Analysis of fire data from gazetted forests
- Assessment of Permanent Increment Plots for growth estimation
