The Forestry Commission Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr George Manyumwa as the substantive Director-General, effective 15 July 2025.

Mr Manyumwa brings with him a wealth of experience spanning over 25 years in strategic management and leadership, with a strong emphasis on conservation and sustainable development. Prior to this appointment, he served as Deputy Director-General at ZimParks, where he demonstrated exemplary leadership and a commitment to environmental stewardship.

His distinguished career includes senior roles in both the public and private sectors, having served as:

Throughout his career, Mr Manyumwa has successfully led institutional transformation through effective turnaround strategies, underscoring his ability to deliver results in complex operational environments.

He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration, a Master Class in Business Management and Leadership from the London Graduate School, and several professional certifications from globally recognised institutions.

Mr Manyumwa is also a respected Carbon Credits consultant and a passionate advocate for sustainable conservation, biodiversity protection, and community-led natural resource management.

Outside of work, George is a dedicated husband and father of three sons.
