About the Division
Protecting Zimbabwe’s Forests.
The Conservation and Extension Division works with communities, farmers, institutions and other stakeholders to promote the sustainable management, conservation and utilisation of Zimbabwe’s forest resources.
Through technical support, training, regulatory oversight and community engagement, the Division encourages responsible forestry practices that protect the environment, strengthen climate resilience and improve livelihoods.
To enhance the supply and sustainable management of trees and forest resources, particularly in communal and resettlement areas, through four core pillars.

The division enhances the sustainable management and utilisation of trees and forest resources, particularly within communal and resettlement areas, through four core pillars:
Community Empowerment
Building community capacity through education, awareness and practical skills in tree planting, forest conservation and sustainable woodland management.
Sustainable Use and Value Addition
Promoting the sustainable utilisation of forest products while encouraging value addition to improve livelihoods and create economic opportunities.
Forest-Based Enterprise Development
Supporting communities to establish viable forest enterprises through technical training, organisational capacity development, and business and marketing support.
Gazetted Forest Management
Ensuring the sustainable management, conservation and utilisation of Zimbabwe’s gazetted indigenous forests for present and future generations.
